Kansas City took two of three games from the Angels and now they will begin a series in Oakland against the Athletics. James Shields has been spectacular for the Royals giving up just 5 runs and 13 hits in his last three starts. Shields pitched in Oakland last year throwing a complete game where he allowed just three hits while striking out 11. Coco Crisp (3-17) has seen the righty the most and he has done poorly as well as Jed Lowrie (1-9) and Yoenis Cespedes (0-3). Oakland is hitting a lusty .215 in their last seven games and they’ve lost the spark they played with earlier in the season. They are just 10-10 at home where they have a .233 batting average. The Royals’ bullpen is 6-5 with a 3.07 ERA converting 11 of 15 save chances.

Jarrod Parker has been abysmal for Oakland going 2-5 with a 6.86 ERA in eight starts. He has allowed 22 runs and 28 hits in four starts at home. Parker lost to the Royals in Kansas City last year after giving up 5 runs in just over four innings. The Royals are hitting .267 in their last seven games while scoring 5.4 runs per contest over that span. They are scoring nearly 5 runs per game on the road as well. Kansas City is playing the better baseball right now and they are starting the better pitcher so we’ll lay the price with the road favorite in this game on Friday night.

The Blue Jays come to New York winners of four straight games. They have scored 33 runs in their last three games and they will face Hiroki Kuroda who has given up 4 runs and nine hits in two games pitched against the Blue Jays this season. JP Arencibia (7-15), Rajai Davis (5-14), Edwin Encarnacion (4-15) and Melky Cabrera (2-6) have good numbers against Kuroda. Toronto is hitting .276 in their last seven games and they’ve gone Over the total in 12 of 20 road games this season.

Mark Buehrle is 1-2 with a 6.19 ERA in eight starts. The southpaw faced Kuroda in both of his starts allowing 8 runs and 14 hits in those two games. Overall, Buehrle is 1-9 with a 6.19 ERA in 14 career starts against the Yankees. Robinson Cano (8-20), Brett Gardner (6-12), Jayson Nix (5-13), Ichiro (23-54) and Vernon Wells (24-50) all have had success against Buehrle. The Yankees are hitting better than people thought they would this season. Toronto's bullpen is 8-9 with a 3.93 ERA this season and five blown saves in 16 chances. We expect a high-scoring game between the Blue Jays and Yankees on Friday night.

The Phillies welcome the Reds to town with revenge on their minds after being swept by them earlier in the season. In that first series, Cliff Lee gave up 2 runs and five hits in seven innings. Overall this season, the Philadelphia starter is 4-2 with a 2.86 ERA in eight starts. He has allowed just 7 runs and 20 hits in his last three starts which all came on the road. Zack Cosart (1-6), Todd Frazier (1-5), Ryan Hanigan (2-11), Chris Heisey (2-11), Cesar Izturis (2-9) and Jay Bruce (4-18) all have had their problems with Lee. Cincinnati is 9-10 on the road where they are hitting right around .233 as a team.

Tony Cingrani is getting his first look at the Phillies. He is 2-0 with a 2.89 ERA in five starts. Cingrani has struck out 37 while walking seven relying heavily on the fastball. The Phillies are hitting the ball well over their last seven games. The Reds’ bullpen blew another save on Wednesday night. That unit has an ERA right around 5.00 on the road. Philadelphia has won five of their last eight games at home against the Reds, and we expect another solid home win in this game on Friday night.
