Game Analysis: The Padres are coming off a 3-3 roadtrip and are now back home where they have been on fire of late. San Diego is riding a current 10-game home winning streak where it is now 17-6 on the season. The victory on Sunday that salvaged a game against the Rockies moved the Padres to .500 on the year. Philadelphia swept the Nationals over the weekend which is becoming a common occurrence for teams playing Washington so the sweep is not overly impressive. The Phillies have been great on the road all season with a 16-6 record but 10 of those wins have come against teams that have losing records on the season so the record really is not as good as it looks. They send Joe Blanton to the hill and he is coming off his best performance of the season. He could carry that confidence and momentum into this start but he has been so inconsistent this season that I just do not see that happening. The only other time that he allowed fewer than two runs in a game he followed it up with a horrid performance, allowing six runs in eight innings against the Braves. Blanton has benefited from great run support and that may not happen tonight. The Padres counter with Kevin Correia whose numbers do not look good overall but they are skewed by a couple bad starts. He allowed 11 runs combined in two outings against Colorado and Arizona and take those away and his ERA drops from 5.11 to a much more solid 3.79. Three of his five starts at home have been quality outings and four of those saw him allow three runs or fewer and in total, San Diego is 4-1 in his five home starts. He has not faced the Phillies since 2003 so he is at an advantage from that standpoint. The Phillies are a Major League best 13-4 against left-handed starters but just 15-16 against righties on the season. Correia is 20-9 when pitching at home and the Padres are a solid 10-2 as home underdogs this season. 3* San Diego Padres
