MLB | Jul 29, 2010 Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Diego Padres |
San Diego Padres -132 at JAMAICA |
Won $100 |
| The Dodgers and Padres have 11 more games to play this season and that allows the Dodgers plenty of opportunity to get back in the race. The Dodgers have done well against the Padres, winning six of the last eight after losing Wednesday's game. The Dodgers will go with Vincente Padilla this evening. Padilla has been pitching great with a 4-3 record and 3.41 ERA. But it's his play lately that has stood out, going 1-1 with a 0.43 ERA in his last 21 innings pitched. Mat Latos will try to end the Dodgers magic here on Thursday. Latos has also been doing wonders this year with a 11-4 record and 2.48 ERA for the Padres. Latos is 3-0 in his last three starts with a 0.86 ERA with just four walks and 22 KO's. While the Dodgers have held the upper hand in this series, I really like Latos and with a tough pitcher's park in San Diego I'm going with the Padres here on Thursday. | ||

MLB | Jul 29, 2010 Florida Marlins vs. San Francisco Giants |
San Francisco Giants -138 at JAMAICA |
Lost $138.0 |
| What a wild game on Wednesday between these clubs. The Giants jumped out to an early 7-1 lead and led 9-2 heading into the 7th inning. With one of the best pitching staffs in baseball you would think a seven run lead would be safe. But the Marlins scored five in the seventh and two in the top of the 9th to force extra innings. Andres Torres hit a ground rule single with the bases loaded in the 10th inning to save the Giants from an embarrassing loss. The Giants are now 18-5 since July 3, that's the best in baseball and rookie Buster Posey is looking to break a franchise RBI record for one month with his next run batted in. Anibal Sanchez will try to keep him from that record on Thursday. Sanchez is 7-6 this season with a 3.59 ERA. Sanchez has struggled of late, going 0-1 with a 5.06 ERA his last three starts. Madison Bumgarner will start for the Giants. Bumgarner has been hot, going 3-0 his last three starts with a 1.93 ERA. The Giants are 5-1 against the Marlins and I look for that to continue here on Thursday as they win for the sixth time this season against the fish. | ||

MLB | Jul 29, 2010 Atlanta Braves vs. Washington Nationals |
Atlanta Braves -132 at JAMAICA |
Lost $132.0 |
| The Braves pitching just overpowered the Nationals on Wednesday as Tim Hudson allowed just one run over 7 2/3 innings as the 1st place Braves won, 3-1. The Nationals are not expected to get rookie phenom Stephen Strasburg pitching for at least a few days, that means Scott Olsen will come off the DL and get the start here on Thursday. Olsen hasn't pitched since May 22 with a shoulder injury. Before heading on the DL, Olsen was 2-2 with a 3.77 ERA. Derek Lowe will go for the Braves and when Lowe starts it's all about his sinker. If Lowe's sinker is doing what it should, he wins, but if it's staying up in the zone, then he's hit hard. Lowe has had limited success this year as his 10-8 record shows along with his 4.48 ERA. Nationals Park is actually a pretty good pitchers park. In fact, it's the ranks just ahead of Dodger Stadium and we know that the LA park has always been a friendly pitcher place. I don't mind taking Lowe when he's in a good pitchers park since those non-grounders have a little more trouble getting out of the park. So I'll stick with the Braves here on Thursday and hope that the infielders are getting lots of work for Atlanta. | ||
