Detroit has cooled off in losing three of five and posted a 1-4 ATS mark. The Pistons lost by four points to Milwaukee on Wednesday, and they get them at home tomorrow. One would think the Detroit players would place greater emphasis on that rematch, but they certainly do not want to lose to the Blazers. Portland is only 9-13 SU; however, they are on a 6-2 ATS move, playing competitively. Inside that number is a 5-1 ATS mark on the road. I’m not calling for an upset, but it’s hard to overlook that the Trailblazers are 12-0 ATS in away games against Central Division opponents.
The Crosstown Shootout is always one of the highlights of the December CBB calendar. These are two teams that truly hate each other, and the intensity level of the crowd is at a fever pitch. Cincinnati started the year trying to play faster to get easier baskets. It worked for a while, but not anymore. Xavier has played uneven basketball under new coach Richard Pitino, but has generally improved. Xavier has won 7 of 10 of these matchups, including being 4-0 SU and ATS at home. They add another tonight.
San Jose has been a pleasant surprise to start the year, but has begun to level off at 5-6 SU lately. In those six setbacks, four have been by multiple goals. Dallas has done the opposite; they have gotten hotter. The Stars are on an 11-3 SU tear, and six of their past eight triumphs are by multiple goals. With Dallas goalie Jake Oettinger back in top form (4-0, 93.4% SP), he can slow the Sharks. Plus, the Stars are 6-0 after playing two consecutive road games and most importantly, winning by 2.5 GAG.
