Tonys Takes - Week 2 (09-08-2008)
Tonys Takes - Week 2 (09-08-2008)
By Tony George

Wow! More and more surprises as many teams, especially in College Football are starting to show their true colors, which has made my season to date miserable in College Ball predictions, but I will turn the tide this week with a some Monster plays based on the lines I have seen. That is when 17 years of experience, especially with some rough starts as in the past, comes into play and I fire back at the books who will continue to base lines on public perception. Not an excuse, and who needs one, as many games have simply baffled the experts with some surprising results. The NFL provided a few as well, along with some season changing injuries on opening day.

Tease your way to NFL Profits (09-04-2008)
By Tony George

Now that the king of all sports wagering is upon us, that being football, it is time to maximize profits and minimize losses for the smart player. As a professional handicapper it is not only my job to pick winning selections for my clients, but to help them maximize their profits with those selections. I have written about the flat betting technique I use (equal amounts of money on each bet), which you all should consider as well, but now we look to our insurance policy of 2 team 6 point teasers at 11 to 10 odds in the NFL.

4th Down and Inches (09-03-2008)
4th Down and Inches (09-03-2008)
By Doc

Once again it’s that time of year, as this is the kickoff issue for our annual Fourth Down and Inches. What was most gratifying about the past weekend was that our top selection, Temple, completely destroyed Army, 35-7. I spotted that game early in the summer and, believe me, it would have been a rough Saturday had that game gone down Friday night. This is a much-improved Owls team, as they return 22 starters (entire offense and defense) from 2007. This team has long been a doormat for opponents to get healthy on but those days are over, as Coach Al Golden has changed the culture. Granted, his record in just over two years is 6-19, but one must remember how down this program was when he took over in 2006. Unfortunately for the Owls, if they continue to improve, Coach Golden will likely not be around very long. Temple cannot pay what a BCS conference school can and I would suspect Golden will have plenty of offers once the season concludes in December. The Owls will face a much better team in Connecticut this week, but playing in Philadelphia should allow them to remain competitive.

This Week in Betting, A to Z (09-03-2008)
This Week in Betting, A to Z (09-03-2008)

A - Appalachian State. A former Michigan man took it upon himself to avenge the crushing embarrassment dished out to the Wolverines by App State last season. Les Miles and his LSU Tigers emphatically popped the Mountaineers' balloon with a thoroughly overwhelming 41-13 victory. We didn't learn a lot about LSU's offense in the game, but we did see that the defense is going to be just fine even though Bo Pellini moved on to Nebraska.
