I am taking the Capitals on the ML here on the road against the Mammoth in this Non-Conference show down. Utah is embarking on a 5 game road trip and have not gotten off to a strong start since resuming action, going just 1-2 and have allowed a staggering 10 goals in 3 games. The Capitals are coming off a tough road loss to Montreal, however they defend home ice very well and have revenge on their mind after falling to Utah before the Olympic break. Washington has a potent offense generating 29 SOG per game and are in the middle of the league ranked 17th in shooting %. The Mammoth defense looked great in the first half but are now looking weak. They are 21st on the PK and 21st in PIM, which should give the Caps man up a few chances. Logan Thompson is slated to start for Washington who has 3 straight wins, allowing no more than 2 goals in any of ‘em, along with at least a .920 SV% in each. Karel Vejmelka is going the other way whose no doubt seen better days with a 3-3 record his L6 starts and is 0-2 his L2 road starts with 7 goals allowed. Take the Capitals on the ML here. —Joey Tron
I am taking Alabama on the ML here on the road against Georgia in this SEC match up. Alabama is coming off a big road win against the Vols, giving them their 8th straight win, while Georgia enters 3-1 their L4, but looking back a bit further, they’ve struggled, going 4-6 their L10. The Georgia defense has been getting lit up 110+ defensive rating in 5 of 6 and have foes have shot over a 54% eFG in all of ‘em but one. The Bama offense is in high gear right now posting a 125+ rating in 3 of their L4 games and are lighting it up from 3PT in Conference play, hitting 36.4%. Alabama defense has had some shortcomings however they’ve held foes under a 50% eFG in 3 straight games and very rarely, are teams getting to the FT line.
