The Cleveland Guardians will be highly motivated to avoid the sweep after dropping the first two games of this series to the New York Mets. I like their chances of bouncing back and taking Game 3 today with one of the most underrated starters in baseball on the mound.

Foster Griffin makes his Guardians debut after getting traded from the Nationals. It was just one of many big moves Cleveland made to try and make a run at a division title.

We really like the home team in this matchup. Cleveland looks to avoid the sweep against the visiting Mets, and newly acquired LHP Foster Griffin gets a favorable team debut. Griffin (12-3, 3.06 ERA) has had an outstanding All-Star campaign and steps in to give the Guardians a major edge on the mound. He steps into a prime spot against a New York squad that has struggled all season against southpaws, posting an 11-20 record versus left-handed starters.

The Mets will counter with RHP Nolan McLean (7-7, 3.29 ERA) as they look to finish off the road sweep. While McLean has been solid, he has struggled with his command lately giving up twp walks in four consecutive starts.
