Sunday MLB Free play. My selection is on the 'under' between Houston and Boston at 11:35 am et on Sunday.
We'll call for another relatively low-scoring affair at Fenway Park as the Astros send Framber Valdez to the hill against Lucas Giolito of the Red Sox. Valdez has been terrific lately, allowing one earned run or less in three straight starts, giving up a grand total of just two earned runs in 19 innings over that stretch. You would have to go back four outings to find the last time he was tagged for a home run. Giolito hasn't been quite as consistent but has proven capable in the Red Sox rotation. Most recently, he allowed just one earned run in six innings against the Twins. While Giolito did allow a whopping four home runs against the Phillies two starts back, he's actually given up a grand total of only five home runs in his last six starts. Take the under.
Ricky's 1* play on BOS.
Key Angle: It's important to remember that Ricky never makes a bet on any game based on just one angle. In order to make the grade, all his premium picks must meet several important criteria. He doesn't share all his secrets within his analysis, instead he chooses to reveal only the angle that he feels is the most significant. Here in this game the recent history of these two teams is particularly significant.
- Boston is 11-1 SU in its last 12 games at home.
- Houston is 1-4 SU in its last 5 games against Boston.
- Boston is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games.
Verdict: The value is on the Home Underdog.
On the season,Houston is 58-47-5 to the under. The Astros are tied for 19th in the majors at 4.31 runs per game. Boston is 57-51-3 to the under this season. The Red Sox are 4th in the majors in runs per game at 4.93. We have two above-average starters on the mound so the under is the play.
